Welcome to the Moon Over the Trees Music and Theatre productions Podcast  I am your host, Maureen Buscareno and I hope to inspire you and to help you discover amazing music and artists from around the world.

I love bringing people together through collaboration, creativity, and community through the arts. And all along my journey I’ve always met interesting and talented people.

I’ve always been one to ask questions and been careful to listen to the answers from others.  The more I learn, the more I’ve learned how much I don’t know, which is a wonderful thing.  That means there is an infinite amount of things to learn, do, see, and share.

I have two masters degrees.  One is a MA in Music Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. I’ve also been certified to teach K-12 Music Education in NJ and NY.  My other MA is in Ethnomusicology (the study of music in its cultural context) and is from The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at The University of Limerick, Ireland.

While at UL I was fortunate enough to have the world renowned pianist and composer,  Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin,  as my thesis advisor.  His humor, caring, and knowledge are just as inspiring to me today as they were when I was at University.  He would tell me that whenever he hosted a party or gathering he would make sure to try and speak to everyone there so everyone felt welcome.  I have always loved fostering community through a similar gregarious welcoming, humor and music.  So, there is usually a lot of laughter during my interviews.  You’ll get used to my goofy laugh, I promise.

Music and Theatre go together.  You’d have a hard time separating them.  Even my undergraduate degree in English is a welcome traveler with Music and Theatre.  We create, we share, and we find ourselves seeing the world in new and beautiful ways.

I also have a love of technology and science so I’ve managed to work that into my creation of, Moon Over the Trees.  I have lesson plans and projects for middle school and high school teachers in STEAM. I teach students how to compose music, use theatre tech equipment, lighting and sound and even help them with designing and building sets and costumes.  I help poets and other writers get their words from the page to the stage. I help festival directors find new audiences for their music utilizing the latest technology.

And I collaborate with musicians from around the world to write and perform new (and some very old) music.

So, sit back and join me on this magical creative journey.
